Campaign rejected: invalid campaign description (error 30886)

    Last verified

    Symptom
Your A2P 10DLC campaign was rejected during vetting with error 30886: invalid campaign description.
    Likely cause
The description is too vague, does not state who the sender is and who receives the messages, does not match the use case or sample messages, names the platform instead of the actual business, or contains personal information instead of a program summary.

Applies to: A2P 10DLC campaign registration

    How to fix it

    1. State who is sending

Use the actual registered business or brand name in the description. If you register on behalf of clients, describe the client's business, not your agency or the platform you use.

    2. State who receives and why

Say who the messages go to — customers, leads, patients, students — and what they are for, for example appointment reminders, order updates or follow-up after a request.

    3. Match the rest of your registration

Check the description against the campaign use case, the sample messages, the brand name and your website. Anything that contradicts these is a rejection reason.

    4. Update the same campaign and resubmit

Update the failed campaign and resubmit it. Create a new campaign only if the selected use case is wrong or the failure is tied to the brand rather than the campaign details.

Your A2P 10DLC campaign was rejected during vetting because the Campaign Description field does not clearly explain the messaging program: who is sending, who receives, and why (1). Twilio names the specific fields to fix — rewrite the description so it states the sender, the intended recipients and the purpose, keep it aligned with the selected use case and your sample messages, and remove personal information (1).

If your numbers sit inside a platform such as HighLevel, the interface may show the rejection without the code; ask the platform's support team for the Twilio rejection code in writing before you change anything, and remember the business details, website and opt-in flow described in the registration belong to you, not the platform (2).

    FAQ

Can I copy a campaign description from a template?

Generic template descriptions are a common cause of this rejection. Write a short, specific description of your own messaging program instead.

I am an agency registering for a client. Whose name goes in the description?

The client's. If you are registering on behalf of customers, the description must identify the actual business sending the messages, not your platform or agency.
